Many Appaloosas go bounding into the Hall of Fame, starting their journey down the fence line of the showpen or the winning stretch of a racetrack. But, the 1980 mare Sheza Good Sport, by Sports Castor and out of the AQHA mare Miss Skips Luv, made a much quieter trek as she sauntered from the broodmare pasture into Appaloosa history. By 1993, five of her foals received bronze medallions, earning Sheza Good Sport a bronze production plaque and a place in the Appaloosa Hall of Fame.

Owners Linda Jansson and Louise Crain planned for Sheza Good Sport's success when they bought her as a two-year-old filly from breeders Lawlin, Ltd. The buckskin mare's earned 35 points and a register of merit in aged mare halter, but has never been ridden. Instead, Linda and Louise have produced champion halter horses by breeding Sheeza Good Sport to several top Appaloosa stallions including Goer, Dreamfinder and Impressive Andrew.

"We've taken her to a variety of stallions and all her foals have won," Louise says.

Sheza Good Sport's produced a foal every year since 1984 except in 1996 when Louise and Linda decided she needed a break from maternal duties. Throughout the years, she's put 15 foals on the ground who've earned 10 bronze medallions, eight registers of merit and a current total of 550 points in halter. Mye Sweet Liberty, her 1986 filly by Goer, claimed a World championship as a weanling. Sheza Good Sport's 1994 son Born to Dream, by Dreamfinder, won World championships in 1995 and 1997; a 1996 National championship; and Youth National championships in 1997 and 1998.

Now 19, Sheza Good Sport's currently relaxing after the weaning of her 1999 foal by Dream T'. Louise and Linda say they'll continue to breed the mare until she'll no longer produce.
