"From Meager Beginnings"

Each of Miss Apache's five medallion-winning goals, Miss Executive, The Governess, The Organizer, Milliondollarbaby and The Wonder Woman, were also sired by ApHC Hall of Fame stallion, The Executive, and all five won their medallions in halter.

By Apache II and out of an unregistered Quarter Horse mare, Miss Apache was bred by Clarence Olfert and foaled in Wolf Point, Montana, in April 1966.

She was purchased at a mid-winter auction sale in Montana by Ward and Alice Fenton for $210 as a long-haired small yearling. Inauspicious as her beginning was, she went on to achieve success in the show ring, garnering a grand champion mare title almost every time she was shown. She was also a versatile athlete, showing in western pleasure, reining, working cowhorse and cutting.

"During her entire show career, she was regularly used on Fenton's cattle ranch," owner Lew Eklund said. "Miss Apache was as good a cowhorse on the range as she was in the show arena. As a consequence she wasn't retired to the broodmare band until she was 10 years old. Today, at 27, she still looks like a 10-year-old."
