A 1971 red roan, Time Flies, by Apollo (TB) and out of Rose Time, began his racing career in 1973 with a win in the prestigious World Wide Futurity, ending that year with nearly $30,000 in two-year-old earnings. Over a six-year career on the track, Time Flies amassed a record of 26 wins, eight places and two shows for 36 starts, and earned more than $87,000. His major victories included the 1974 World Wide Derby (the three-year-old follow-up to the World Wide Futurity for two-year-olds) and the 1974 California Derby. Time Flies was named the 1973 two-year-old sprint champion colt, 1974 three-year-old champion colt, 1977 four-year-old-and-older champion horse and 1978 four-year-old-and-older champion horse.
