War Don was foaled in 1962 while his dam, Dawndee (1995 ApHC Racing Hall of Fame), was continuing with her race career. His sire was War Glory. Glade B. Draper was the owner, breeder and trainer for this colt. Winning the first Appaloosa race to be run under pari-mutuel in Colorado, War Don earned AA time twice as a two-year-old.
